Flour Mill Replacement - Laffiteau, Haiti
OWNER
Seaboard Corporation
In a combined effort, Ibberson International, Inc. and Buhler, Inc. partnered to rebuild the LMH flour mill in Laffiteau, Haiti, that was destroyed in the Haiti earthquake.
Buhler/Ibberson, LLC was contracted by Seaboard Corp. to design this new state of the art flour mill and engineer to withstand seismic forces in this location. The new mill has a capacity of 1,050 t/25hour.
All building materials and construction materials/supplies were sourced, fabricated and shipped from the US.
Construction equipment such as cranes, forklifts and concrete pumps were also shipped to Haiti for the construction of this new mill.
Ibberson International, Inc. hired a local Haitian contractor to perform the foundation work and concrete supply for the project. A Dominican Republic company was subcontracted to construct the building, floors and some of the mechanical work. Ibberson provided 13 Ex-Patriots to work on-site and operate the cranes and supervise the construction. A man camp and catering service were sourced from the US and brought to the site for the international subcontractors during the construction.
