Ibberson performed design-build services for a new 9,000 cwt-hard wheat flour mill located in Houston, Texas.
The seven-floor slipform concrete mill tower is 91’ x 121’ x 106’ tall. The site also includes a 150’ x 104’ x 22’-high metal building warehouse, a rail loadout building, and a three-story metal office building.
Product storage bins are located inside the mill tower that allow for free-flowing granular material. Various finishes were used on the bins, depending on the product to be stored. All work floors are reinforced concrete, and pressure relief panels are located in each floor of the mill tower.
Ibberson was also responsible for providing equipment such as a 10,000-lb. freight elevator and a 10’ x 70’ pit-less truck scale.
The mechanical portion of the facility included plumbing, air conditioning for the mill and MCC rooms, and fire protection.
Painting was also included in the scope of the Amber Milling wheat flour mill project.
