The Nutrena Feeds Division of Cargill, Inc. unveiled its fully automated feed mill near Memphis, Tennessee, which is capable of mixing 100,000 tons of livestock feed per year, in the forms of mash, flaked and textured sweet feed.
It features a computerized batch mixing control operation that includes a computer inventory system, a 300-horsepower pellet mill that manufactures pelleted feed at 30 TPH, and an automated packaging line.
The receiving system and batching system utilized hydraulically operated conveyors for variable speed adjustment. The batching capacity is 60 TPH. The overall project work included a truck and rail receiving building, bagged ingredient and finished feed storage warehouse, bulk feed finished truck and rail loadout facilities, service building and district office building.
The site also includes a 108.5-foot-tall mill tower that Ibberson slipformed in five and a half days.
