Mash and Pelleted Poultry Feed Mill - Gonzales, Texas
Ibberson first became involved with this project when it responded to a Tyson request for a comprehensive plan to integrate a new manufacturing facility on the existing site, maximizing use of certain existing site assets such as whole grain storage and bulk finished feed storage.
Ibberson’s scope of work includes engineering, design and construction of foundations, slipform concrete mill tower, ancillary buildings, receiving structure with office, liquid containment area with canopy, MCC; employee break room, grinder room, millwright installation of all machinery and equipment, and design/engineering of process systems.
Specific FAA height restrictions had to be identified and adhered to in the design of the facility’s centerpiece--a 147-foot slipformed manufacturing tower. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were saved when Ibberson developed a construction means to address poor soil conditions and was able to eliminate the need for piling.
Special construction methods were required to protect existing structures during the construction of the new structures. A particularly strong emphasis was placed on timing and scheduling of tasks during the changeover to prevent loss of production.
The mill includes truck and rail receiving, grinding, an eight-ton batching and mixing system and one 60-TPH pelleting system with room for a second pelleting line.
The design of this facility utilizes methods to increase production, improve product quality, and lower manufacturing costs.
