Organic Trace Mineral Plant - North Branch, Minn.
CLIENT
Zinpro Corporation
The Zinpro Corporation purchased the North Branch, Minnesota, facility in August 1999 and began a major renovation with T.E. Ibberson Company as the general contractor. The facility will be used to produce Zinpro trace mineral complexes for animal feed.
The company invested more than $4 million in upgrading the rotary dryer, materials handling and packaging systems, and installing a new amino acid extraction and mineral-amino acid complexing system, a new computerized process control system and a new thermal oxidizes. Bulk storage capacity was also added to the plant.
The project was scheduled to be completed in two phases. Phase One, the drying of product, was completed in approximately six months. This allowed Zinpro to deliver reactant material from their Garner, Iowa, plant for final drying and packaging in North Branch, Minnesota. Phase Two was completed approximately one month later, which included start-up of the reactor system.
This project had an excellent safety record with 12,200 total man-hours, zero lost-time accidents and zero reportable injuries.
