General Purpose Feed Mill - Lubbock, Texas
CLIENT
Purina Mills, Inc.
Ibberson completed its fourth feed mill for Purina Mills, Inc. The new state-of-the-art feed mill sits on a 10-acre (352,000-sq.-ft.) site in rural Lubbock, Texas. The actual mill is 65,000 sq. ft., including a 30,000-sq.-ft. warehouse, office building and a receiving building that features two truck and two rail receiving bays.
Contracts to begin the project were signed in February 1997 followed by groundbreaking in April 1997. Full production was well underway by late summer 1998.
Ibberson’s role on the feed mill was design-build, working closely with Purina at all stages to tailor the design to meet their needs. Ibberson provided the engineering, construction, construction management and was one half of the Ibberson-Purina Mills start-up team for the new facility.
Production efficiencies at the new mill nearly doubled that of the existing facility, which was built in the 1930s. Today, the Lubbock site processes approximately 1,100 tons of feed per day.
Other feed mills completed by Ibberson for Purina Mills are in Orrville, Ohio; Statesville, North Carolina; and Hagerstown, Maryland.
