General Purpose Feed Mill - Statesville, N.C.
CLIENT
Purina Mills, Inc.
Ibberson handled all aspects of design and construction for this new animal feed manufacturing plant. The facility manufactures general purpose feeds, primarily for the hog and equine industries. However, the plant can manufacture a full line of products, including dairy, and chicken feeds, in addition to other specialty feeds such as rabbit and mink feeds.
While most the production is in bulk feed, the facility also includes a complete bagging and palletizing line, and an ample warehouse to meet Purina’s current needs.
Raw ingredients are received by both rail and bulk truck. The batching system is state-of-the-art and does not utilize conventional pre-grinding of grains prior to ingredient weigh-up.
The slipformed mill tower includes five bin bottom elevations and three bin top elevations. This complex mill design was necessary to achieve the desired flexibility in plant flow and operation.
This facility combines several technological advancements in feed mill design.
