Turkey Feed Mill - Faribault, Minn.
CLIENT
Jerome Foods, Inc.
This turnkey design-build feed mill project was designed to produce turkey feed at a rate of 75 tons per hour, 200,000 tons annually, to supply the owner’s southeastern Minnesota turkey flocks.
The project was handled in the fast-track mode, allowing for the shortest overall project schedule. In addition, fast-tracking reduced the owner’s interim financing costs and provided the earliest possible use of the facility.
Ibberson’s design incorporated the latest technology in feed manufacturing, tailored to satisfy the owner’s specific requirements. Special attention was given to ingredient hopper design to enhance material flowability, and reducing mill energy consumption. Other design issues stressed increasing pelleting efficiency and improving pellet quality.
Construction and start-up took less than 12 months. The concrete slipform structure is 135 feet in height and took six and one-half days to raise.
Jerome Foods’ headquarters is in Barron, Wisconsin. Its turkey processing facilities are in Barron, Wisconsin, and Faribault, Minnesota.
