CLIENT
Summit Brewing Company
Summit Brewing Company, the Midwest’s most successful microbrewer, contracted Ibberson to provide the engineering and construction services for this $9 million brewery in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The facility has a four-level brewhouse and a 70-foot malt silo. Business offices and a warehouse were included in the design, as well as a Ratskeller, or traditional German brewery party and meeting room.
The 58,000 square-foot operation, should meet Summit’s needs for the next 10 years at a maximum, high-output capacity of 150,000 barrels a year. The site has room for more than 24,000 feet of future building expansion.
The brewery is unique in its incorporation of Old World copper brewing equipment procured from a brewery in Ansback, Germany. Architectural design was used to further enhance the European tradition and charm through the brewery’s barrel-shaped, trussed roof; large deeply-set window openings; and front-entrance plaza.
