Dietary Food Warehouse - St. Louis Park, Minn.
CLIENT
Sandoz Nutrition
This addition to the existing dietary food warehouse consisted of a three-story building for food processing and packaging (10,000 sq. ft. per floor), a warehouse for palletizing (18,000 sq. ft.), depalletizing and storage of finished dietary food products and packaging materials. The addition also included an office space, locker room and lunch room.
Facility design and equipment selection was made to incorporate several factors, including minimum disruption to existing operations, accommodation for future expansion and a design following economical maintenance. The design also complied with FDA certification and allowed for optimum material flow and storage of raw ingredients, packaging material and finished goods.
The new facilities are of masonry and precast concrete construction. Careful consideration was given to the structural, mechanical, electrical and process design to obtain a quality facility that is sanitary and easy to clean.
The project was designed and constructed on a fast-track basis, with only 13 months separating the start of design from the start of production.
