Tombstone Pizza Expansion - Sussex, Wis.
CLIENT
Tombstone Pizza
Tombstone Pizza’s aggressive growth history and ever increasing sales required this 58,000-square-foot-expansion to more than triple the space for production and storage of pizzas. Office and employee areas were also expanded.
Operational features included meat processing systems, automated sauce blending and a high speed pizza assembly line. Pizzas are quickly frozen in a spiral blast freezer, packaged, palletized and stored in a computer-automated storage and retrieval high-rise freezer for later shipping.
Many challenges were met to achieve success. The key was a fast-track design and construction approach that required only 10 months from inception to start-up. The design for the facility had to meet several requirements, including a process layout that fit into the budgeted space, an arrangement of the building onto an irregular site, critical timing with winter construction and ease of layout for future expansion.
Ibberson provided conceptual layout and future planning, process layouts, regulatory submittal, architectural design, and structural.
Projects were also completed in other Tombstone locations include a beef snack food freezer, a meat plant, a pizza assembly facility and a truck/vehicle repair garage all located in Medford, Wisconsin.
